A new Member Rating Program is in the works.

With the upcoming launch of MatchRX 3.0 comes a new Member Rating program designed to enhance your member experience. Member Rating will replace Seller Rating. Member Rating will take into account both buying and selling activity, adherence to order confirmation policies, and management of open postings designed to reduce seller revisions and cancellations. Revisions and cancellations cause disruption to buying members and their patients. MatchRX is taking steps to help minimize these disruptions, including the lowering of a members rating and possible financial penalty. Remember, members are purchasing to fill a patient script. Revisions and cancellations have a direct impact on the quality of service provided to their patients. 

What can you do TODAY to ensure a high Member Rating when MatchRX 3.0 launches?

As a Seller:

  • Keep your open postings up to date to avoid revisions and cancellations.
  • While packing your order, double check the NDC, lot number, expiration date, and quantity ordered to make sure it matches the packing slip.
  • Pack items properly to ensure they arrive in good shape.

As a Buyer:

  • Avoid canceling any orders that have not been revised by the seller.
  • Confirm orders within two (2) business days of receipt.
  • Double check the NDC, lot number, expiration date, and quantities with every shipment.

Following these suggestions will ensure you have a high Member Rating, providing assurance to buyers that they are working with a stellar MatchRX member. At MatchRX, our goal is to help independents work together to improve their pharmacy practice and patient services.

Features/functionality coming with MatchRX 3.0

Bulk Search

Easily search multiple NDC’s at one time with the new Bulk Search feature. Simply download the Bulk Search template from the Buy Page, enter up to 100 NDC’s and upload the template. The marketplace will quickly display all of the items that match the list, saving you time and effort when sourcing items for your patients.

Run Transaction Reports for a Specific Drug Name or NDC

Easily run transaction reports for a specific NDC or drug name. Simply enter the time-frame you wish to report against, enter the NDC or drug name, select the type of transaction (buy/sell/both), and quickly generate the report to the screen, save as a pdf, or export to excel for further analysis. The new search criteria will help you quickly respond to 3rd party transaction requests for a specific drug or NDC.

President Trump on Thursday offered a plan to drive down the price Medicare pays for some prescription drugs, a move that could save taxpayers billions of dollars but also faces resistance from the pharmaceutical industry. As part of a demonstration project covering one-half of the country, Medicare would establish an “international pricing index” and use it as a benchmark in deciding how much to pay for drugs covered by Part B of Medicare. The proposal wouldn’t likely go into effect until late 2019 or 2020. The Trump administration will accept public comments before starting the project. (…read more)

Forty-three percent of patients in fair or poor health find it difficult to afford their medications, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey. Thirty-seven percent have skipped filling a prescription entirely because of cost.

Although you run a business to make money, you’re in pharmacy to improve patients’ lives.

When you save patients money at the pharmacy, they’re less likely to have to make tough choices between their medications and other necessities like food and rent.

Making medication affordable can also increase medication adherence, which leads to better health outcomes. It may also help reduce a patient’s stress levels, which is good for overall health. (…read more)

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and Paul Mango, Chief Principal Deputy Administrator and Chief of Staff in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Office of the Administrator, today visited Spartan Pharmacy in Pittsburgh as part of ongoing efforts to highlight President Trump’s signing into law legislation to ban so-called “gag clauses.” Azar and Mango held a roundtable discussion at the pharmacy with National Community Pharmacists Association member Adam Rice and Kevin McCaffrey, Spartan Pharmacy’s owners, and Erich Cushey, NCPA member and owner of Curtis Pharmacy in Washington, Pa. and Claysville, Pa. Also attending was Karry La Violette, NCPA’s senior vice president of government affairs and director of the NCPA Advocacy Center, as well as several patients from the Pittsburgh area. (…read more)

Helpful Hints

Tip 1: Utilize your Wishlist, let it work for you.

Add as many items as you’d like to your Wishlist and use the marketplace as your personal shopper.

How does it work? Simple, at anytime click on the blue “wand” icon next to each posted item in the marketplace or add an item to your Wishlist at the time of checkout. You’ll receive an email each morning with a list of your Wishlist items posted to the marketplace from the previous day, currently available for purchase. Login and shop early in the day to ensure your Wishlist items are not purchased by another member.

Here’s a shortcut to buying items from your Wishlist. After logging in, click on the “Wishlist” tab and a column of your items will be listed, how many are available for purchase, and the date the item was added to your list. Simply click on the name or quantity to compare prices and add to your cart.

Tip 2: Postings. Postings. Postings.

Sellers – how many scripts do you have to fill to recover the money lost when a drug expires on your shelf? Expired drugs equate to lost profits. Post your overstock, short dated, and odd package sizes to MatchRX and sell them to a fellow independent that needs it to fill a script. Posting is fast and easy.

Here are a few tips to help manage your postings:

  • Use the complimentary MatchRX stickers to track what you’ve posted. Order more here.
  • Assign a tech to help track all your sales made in the marketplace.
  • Post multiple items at a time. When a Buyer adds one of your items to the cart, the marketplace will automatically display the rest of your open postings to help the buyer identify additional items and save on shipping.

Tip 3: Did you know you can request additional FedEx insurance for large orders?    

You just sold an expensive item. Congratulations! All shipments processed through MatchRX are automatically insured by FedEx for up to $100. If you want to increase the insured value of the shipment before it leaves your pharmacy, contact our customer service team to assist. A MatchRX representative will process additional FedEx insurance for your shipment and provide you with a new label and tracking number. Remember, it’s important to understand how to package your item to help prevent damage while in transit. Our team will review proper shipping practices with you at anytime.
